Thinking of a total reinstall of FSX, I am experiencing a BIG memory leak, so looking to resolve that issue also. A clean sweep never hurts
BTW I just installed Vista SP1 with no problem.

I haven't yet, but I'll get around doing that eventually.
I'm glad you had no problem

Hi Jon,
Just an update. I reinstalled FSX then went on with addons. Looking at my files library, I found a tweaked terrain.cfg files which claimed to correct some bugs in FSX. SO I made a backup and tried it.
I then proceded with UTX for USA, then CAN/AK, finally Europe. Then I decided to install VAN+........ OUCH!
Same problem occured. I ran the repair mode of VAN+ to no avail.
Which makes me think.... Is the terrain.cfg file the culprit?. BTW i realised it is the same that I sent on an earlier post.
I hope this helps

I tried to switch back to original terrain.cfg file....... Same result.
Another observation: When running VAN+ config tool, I can see the progress bar go 0ne tenth of the way then everything shuts down.
I remember in the past that it used to take longer than that. That is another reason I suspect it is not writing in the terrain.cfg file.
All registry entries are ok with the \ at the end....
I am baffled

Hi Paul,
I'm not sure why this happens to you, but I have a sneaking suspicion.
You are using Vista64 - same as me, if you have installed FSX on your c drive, that you might have the wrong access rights.
I would try and right click on your FSX directory and choose "security".
Now click on you user you use, and click "EDIT". Click on your user again, then click all the "Allow" boxes and apply.
Now try to run repair again, maybe alto start the config tool as an administrator.
Vista restricts the access by default in your “c:\program files” and “C:\Program Files (x86)” for some reason.
I hope this helps.

Hi,
You are probably busy, but I just wanted to know if somebody will give me a follow up on this issue please.
I am longing to fly the Vancouver area....
Thank you
Paul

Hi Paul,
1. You originally reported land where there should be water. Can you provide a satellite-view screenshot to show the exact scope? Note that if the Vancouver+ and Victoria+ terrain.cfg entries were not working properly, you’d see this issue around Vancouver harbour and Victoria harbour. Not south of Friday Harbour, Nanaimo, Sechelt. So it makes sense a repair did not fix things up.
2. The terrain.cfg you sent has the correct entries for Vancouver+, but not for Victoria+, had you uninstalled Victoria+ by that time?
3. You reinstalled FSX and then reinstalled the addons, and had the same experience. Did you check after the installation of each addon that all was ok?
Hopefully you're around this weekend (I was in a course all week!) so we can work this through ...
Jon

Hi Jon I will check this out for VIC+
Same problem occured after FX reinstall. So how do you suggest I correct the wrong entries on VIC+, by running the repair program?
Will send pics ASAP
Paul
