What is the difference between the two "Land Class Ground Textures"? I changed to "optimized" but could not tell. Does this change suppose some writing to terrain.cfg as well?
Changing to "optimized" took hardly one second. Shouldn't it have taken longer, since almost 1 Gb of extra files had to be created?
Best regards,
Sérgio

Hi Squadros,
Uninstall VanPlus, edit the SetupPath by adding a backslash, reinstall VanPlus and everything will be fine.
I have verified that without the backslash in your subkey, you would experience the issue and perhaps with other addon installers as well.
Optimized will take longer and you will have additional text in the terrain.cfg.

Np, glad to have that one resolved.
Ps don't forget to remove any of the manual editing you made to terrain.cfg.
Marklar,
You have the same issue, change
"SetupPath"="E:\\Games\\FSX"
To
"SetupPath"="E:\Games\FSX\"
Cheers,
-Scot

If after installing Vancouver+ you see land where there should be water around the Vancouver downtown peninsula, or elsewhere,
If after installing Vancouver+ you see land where there should be water around the Vancouver downtown peninsula, or elsewhere, please do the following:
1) Uninstall Vancouver+
2) Run Command Prompt (typically found in "C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe) or from the Start Menu choose "Run" and in the window that says "Open"....
3) Type 'regedit' and press enter
4) Navigate to : HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator\10.0\
5) Double click the subkey 'SetupPath'
6) Place the missing backslash '\' at the end of the path'
For example,
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X
Becomes...
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\
7) Reinstall Vancouver+
Let us know if that fixes it up.
The FSAddon team.

Sérgio, I suggest you restore your old terrain.cfg, edit the registry as Scot suggests, run the Van+ configurator, and see if all is well.

Jon, I have tried your suggestion, but I still got that strange patch near Chilliwack. I uninstalled and reinstalled V+, correcting my path at the registry. Everything went fine, I got my terrain.cfg updated, it took longer to change the textures to "optimized", as it should, but the patch is still there.
Maybe you did it wrong...
Besides that, it's all beauty and glory.
Cheers,
Sérgio

Hi Sérgio,
Yes, that bit of texture near Chilliwack is a bit odd, but it is in the product, so you are set up ok.

I had this problem and solved it using Plan B.
However, I still have a black patch in the Vancouver Harbor area. Any suggestions on this?
Black area is a rectangular block and covers water and land.
Thanks for the help.
Keep the sunnyside up!

Glad to hear that's fixed up. Have you patched FSX to SP1? I think you may not have. Be sure to uninstall Vancouver+ before you patch, then reinstall.

Jon:
Thanks for the reply.
I'm not sure what you mean by "patched FSX to SP1"? However, if you mean, have I installed the MSFS FSX SP1, I have done that. About 2 weeks ago, in fact. So it was installed before I installed VancouverPlus.
Thanks again in advance for any suggestions.

Yup, that's what I meant. The black patch corresponds likely to the downtown airphoto coverage, and I've only heard of this problem when FSX SP1 has not been installed.
Please run a "repair":
Start-->All Programs-->FSAddon-->Vancouver+ FSX-->Uninstall then choose "Repair". Let us know how it goes!

Jon:
I ran the repair as you suggested and the black area reduced in size, but is still there. It runs from the concrete loading area on the east to the marinas on the west and out from shore to end of the cruise ship pier (Black area is water only). When I take off and fly around, the black area does not go away. While flying about the city I noticed another black area near the stadium (water only) and it disappeared as I flew towards it. Also noticed another black area (land) towards the tank farm on the east, which also disappearesd as I got closer to it. If I use the top down view there is a huge area over in the mountains that is black, but when I fly over there it is gone also.
Should I uninstall VancouverPlus, rerun the FSX SP1 and then reinstall VancouverPlus? Maybe I didn't install FSX SP1 properly. What do you think?
Thanks again.

Do you have any other addons? If so, try disabling them first.
If it's occuring in other areas, it does sound like a possible problem with FSX itself. Your suggestion makes sense, only installing SP1 over FSX may either not be accepted or create more problems. You'll need to uninstall Van+ first before you do, as you say. But here's some other ideas.
FSX also has a "Repair" function: uninstall Van+, then choose Change from Microsoft Flights Simulator X in Control Panel->Add/Remove programs, and then select the Repair button. Then reinstall Vancouver+.
Also, is your video card ok? Does it work ok with other graphics programs?
If you have a simple installation, you may want to just reinstall FSX, but if you have activation problems, be sure to download the activation reset tool: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/928080 Reactivation can be challenging for some folks, so hold off on this until you've tried the above.
You are welcome ...
Jon

Jon:
I do have some add on's:
FS Genesis Canada/Alaska/USA mesh
Cloud9 Canada LC
UT FSX USA
I disabled all of them and still have the black area in Vancouver City harbor. If I uninstall Van+, I don 't have any black area.
Next, I uninstalled Van+ and reinstalled FSX SP1 and then Van+. Fired up FSX and it did not help. Same black area.
Then, I tried to Repair FSX and it started installing FSX to D:\Flight\ instead of D:\Flight\FSX\, so I cancelled it. Checked the HOT KEY and it is set up to install to D:\Flight\FSX\. So I don't understand why it installed/repaired? to D:\Flight\.
I think, I may need to uninstall/reinstall FSX and start all over. But I don't want to lose my Pilot Records and Mission Rewards.
Any other suggestions?
Thanks
