Sun Mar 08, 2009 5:55 pm Vancouver+ for FTX NA Blue users |
  |
Many of you are probably familiar with the brilliant renditions of Australian scenery by ORBX http://fullterrain.com/, the FTX series. With the continued help of Holger Sandmann, they are now working on North America, bit by bit, starting with the Pacific NorthWest.
I’ll be working with the FTX team and FSAddon to adapt Vancouver+ for FTX so that existing Vancouver+ users can enjoy the new improved landscape FTX will provide, and FTX NA Blue owners who don’t have Vancouver+ will have the opportunity of having the features of Vancouver+ in an addon product at a reasonable price.

If I buy Vancouver+ for fsx now, will there be a charge for V3?
edit: Nevermind. On your blog, it says it will be no extra charge.

I'm looking forward to V3 for FTX NA. I've been flying V2 since it came out.
I've just installed FTX NA and haven't installed V3 for Van+. I'm going to wait for final release.
After flying round FTX PNW the last few days i really to miss all the unique featues of Van+. I hope in V3 these aren't lost to make it compatible for FTX. FTX looks great but downtown van doesn't and the unique landmark features like the portmann and alex faser bridge etc. etc. i miss. Van airport doesn't look quite right in some spots. YXX has trees in between runway 7 and huntingdon road where Van+ has all this accurate. Lots more things i noticed and can't wait til V3.
Anyway i don't chime in much but really appreciate this product you made for Vancouver and i'm looking forward to V3. Van+ is a Gem of a product since I live in the Lowermainland.

Thanks for the kind words. Hopefully we've thought through the tradeoffs so you'll experience the best of both products. You'll get all the landmarks and unique features of Van+, plus CYNJ and CYPK; most of the landscape and other airports will be FTX PNW. If there's bits of FTX PNW that you find inaccurate, please post in the fullterrain support forum so that they can be considered for the next patch.
We aim to please.

From a confused reader........I have the Orbx PNW and it is GREAT, and have seen pics of Vancouver+ for FSX, so would like to purchase...........two questions, where do I get the discount PNW price, and what is it??....Where do I order??.....Is it for FSX v2, 1.1 or 3??, if it still v2, I have to install a compatibility patch for V+, and one for PNW, correct??......been reading a bunch of posts and links but too much info, confusing to these old eyes.............appreciate the clarity, many thanks B42L8

Hi B42,
sometimes things get clouded over time, just like the weather
Here's it in a nutshell:
Get Vancouver+ V2 (for FSX) here:
http://secure.simmarket.com/fsaddon-vancouver-for-fsx.phtml
(yes, I know it still says V1.1).
Giving a discount JUST for PNW users proved too administrative complex, so we discounted the product for EVERY buyer! How's that for service, eh?
The free (preliminary) PNW patch can be downloaded here:
http://www.fsaddon.eu/Updates/vancouverx/VancouverPlus_FTX-PNW_patch.zip
And the ultimate NEW version of Vancouver (V3) will ALSO be free (but you'll need to have PNW or it will not work).
Hope that clears things for you,
kind regards,
Francois

Thanks for the quick reply!!!...........Got it downloaded and the patch as well..........hate to be so dense, but the patch is a Van+ one, correct?? Did I read somewhere that I ALSO need a PNW patch as well??...............(and have to set PNW to default settings before installing Van+)............nothing is simple anymore, need my grandkids to do this stuff....................regards, B42L8

There is a PNW patch that is needed as well (does a lot of other things too), but just make sure you follow the instructions included in the Van+ patch and all will be well ...
Happy Flying!
