Mr. Green EUREKA! Shocked

Image

Image

I made sure I kept that precious terrain.cfg file safe Razz

NOW a couple questions comes to mind Jon:
1- What did I do wrong to get in such a mess?
2- How do I prevent in the future from getting in such trouble?
3- IF I EVER get in trouble again, How can I fix it?
4- Can I now install VIC+ without fear of any problems?

Thank you for your perseverance Jon, it is much appreciated... You provide outstanding support Cool

Great news, Paul!

1. I don't know. Wink I do know that you were installing more than one addon at once. I know you fixed that: it's important to install and verify at each step. If you had overwritten the default terrain.cfg with the Ludowise/Feliz-Tirado version, it would delete any additional entries.

It also appears the installer, despite you checking the registry key entry, was not finding the correct location for Flight Simulator. That's a mystery.

2. Take one step at a time...but a small number of installations do screw up despite best efforts.

3. In this case, you needed help, and I don't know how else you could have fixed it up.

4. I'm not sure it'll work well: there's no reason to think the installer will work any better with Vic+. However we can help out again if need be. Give it a shot!

Thanks for the kind words, response was very slow this time, and my computer is still flaky (often won't boot), so thanks for hanging in there.

Jon

You are right Jon VIC+ is still a mess Sad

I checked again with tweakFS fsx_reg_utility my FSX path and both REG entries show: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\ Shocked

So I guess I still need your help Razz

The ultimate solution would be a Total reformat and fresh WIN install... right?

Enclosed the terrain.cfg file after my fresh VIC+ unsuccessfull install.

Figured. Sad

But the attached should fix it up. A reinstall will not likely help. We'll look at this some more.

Hey, Paul, we've confirmed this is a bug in the installer. However you should be ok from here, let us know.

Thanks for your patience,

Jon
